WorldSkills champion Maxine Colligan shares her story at BASF

Following her recent success at the WorldSkills competition in Kazan, Russia, Maxine Colligan was recently back at her old training facility at Glasurit’s Refinish Competence Centre in Wetherill Park, but this time, not in her painting overalls.

Maxine was invited to be the guest speaker at an internal BASF event, where she shared her story of how she first got involved in spray painting, why she loves the industry and her thoughts on how to get more young people interested in pursuing a trade in automotive refinish.

In the audience were guests from BASF’s global Coatings team including Dirk Bremm, President, BASF Coatings, Patrick Zhao, Senior Vice President, Regional Business Unit Coatings Solutions, Asia Pacific and Chris Titmarsh, Vice President, Automotive Refinish Coatings Solutions, Asia Pacific.

Following Maxine’s presentation, the international guests were treated to a traditional Australian BBQ lunch before the group exchanged their suits for overalls and took part in a colour mixing and spray-painting skills sessions. The newly refinished shields are now proudly placed on display at Wetherill Park.
