WorldSkills 2024 has kicked off in Lyon, France with global coatings giant PPG eager to offer its support in the painting and decorating skills category.
PPG is an official gold sponsor of the ‘olympics’ of trades skills and is offering financial support and paint products.
Australian repair talent, including NSW’s Kynan Bonanni, are present at the competition that pits some of the best young skilled tradespeople in the world against one another in a rigorous testing regime.
PPG is there to back them all and has invited guests to visit their stand, following the theme ‘Let’s Paint Your Future’, aiming to showcase the company’s focus on skills improvement, innovation, sustainability, community engagement, and diversity.
PPG Vice President, Government Affairs, Europe, Middle East and Africa Pascal Tisseyre says the company’s support follows a proud tradition of fostering future talent.
“We are proud to partner with WorldSkills Lyon 2024 and emphasise PPG’s dedication to supporting skilled professions,” Tisseyre says.
PPG says their sponsorship is part of its global commitment to support education and workforce development initiatives that prepare students for careers in the skilled trades.
The global vocational skills event gives more than 1,500 young professionals the opportunity to come together to compete in 64 different skills categories across a range of industries.
The event aims to raise the recognition of skilled people, and emphasise the importance of vocational skills in achieving economic growth and success.
PPG professionals were present to interact with guests whilst they took photos, and tested their knowledge in a paint and colours quiz.
