Women in auto recruitment guide released

NCR WinA Guide

Women in Automotive (WinA), a special interest group of the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC), has released a business guide to inform and assist decision makers to attract, recruit and retain women in the Australian automotive industry.

The go-to guide is a necessary resource for an industry in need, with female participation in the Australian automotive industry currently sitting at 20 percent, having remained largely unchanged for the past 20 years.

WinA maintains that as many businesses are reporting difficulties in attracting and retaining talent – both female and male – now, more than ever, it is important to consider the entire available talent pool.

“VACC is a strong advocate for the recruitment and advancement of women in the automotive industry, demonstrated by our financial backing and establishment of the Women in Automotive initiative in 1999. I hope this guide will inspire businesses to look at recruitment differently, and go some way to increasing the number of women employed in our dynamic industry,” said VACC CEO, Geoff Gwilym.

WinA maintains that diverse workforces perform better and encourages businesses to use the guide in recruitment strategies moving forward, with proper consultation having the potential to inspire higher retention rates, better customer satisfaction, and increased profits.
