Vantage Automotive, a major provider of government funded vocational learning and outsourced services to major vehicle manufacturers, recently opened the doors in their first foray into the collision repair space.
Established as a national registered training organisation in 2014 they have an impressive clientele that includes such global OEMs as Subaru, Volvo, Volkswagen and Jaguar-Land Rover. to whom they provide mechanical technical training. “We deliver the initial training on all new models, ongoing training to new staff and retraining on model upgrades and we regularly accommodate technicians from around the globe,” said General Manager, Gary Davenport.
The Open Day was focused on the newly established Body Repair Apprenticeships Program which is aimed at the developing needs of OEMs to ensure technicians are qualified in their brands. With the growth of high-strength steel and aluminium, the structural integrity of a modern vehicle is (obviously) crucial, although most automotive body repair shops lack the skills to properly repair such vehicles.
“The Vantage Automotive Centre of Excellence offers the latest in brand specific training, equipment and resources for specialised vehicle body repair, allowing our clients to align their body repair specifications and techniques with their preferred repairer network,” said Davenport.
The dedicated team of body repair specialist trainers, together with the latest technology and equipment, allows Vantage Automotive to offer a customised training solution that includes: MIG / MAG welding & brazing, aluminium repair, rivet and chemical bonding and paintless dent removal. The facility has an extensive array of workspaces, welding booths and training rooms all with the objective of delivering the requirements of a Certificate III in Auto Body Repair.
The evening was supported by major players in the industry such as 3M Automotive Aftermarket, Axalta Coating Systems, BASF Coatings, Snap-On Tools and Wurth Australia, many of whom were eager to display and demonstrate their specialised products and equipment.
Davenport and his team pulled out all stops to make the evening a success, even wheeling out their race car! It’s early days for Vantage Automotive in the collision repair sector and I am sure we will be hearing a lot more about them as we roll into 2019.
