The Motor Traders’ Association of New South Wales (MTA NSW) has announced its partnership with Smart Commercial Solar, a leader in tailored solar and storage solutions for businesses.
The collaboration will provide MTA NSW members with exclusive access to significant energy cost savings and sustainable energy solutions.
Energy costs have become a significant concern for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Australia.
According to an Energy Consumers Australia Report, electricity bills for small businesses consuming 20,000 kWh increased by an average of $520, or 8 per cent, between April 2023 and April 2024. Gas bills also rose by 7 per cent.
The partnership
To support MTA NSW members in navigating these challenges, Smart Commercial Solar is offering an exclusive, complimentary Energy Analysis and Solar Feasibility Study for MTA NSW members, valued at $1,100. This study will identify suitable solar and storage solutions to reduce energy costs, increase business resilience, and promote sustainable operations.

Options for small – medium businesses
Recognising that upfront capital investment can be a barrier for many businesses, Smart Commercial Solar offers Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
A PPA allows businesses to install solar systems on their premises with zero capital outlay. Under this arrangement, Smart Commercial Solar installs, operates, owns, and maintains the system, selling the generated energy back to the host company at a typically lower rate than traditional grid electricity. This model enables businesses to access clean energy without the financial burden of owning and maintaining a solar power system.
In New South Wales, the government also offers discounts on installing batteries for homes or small businesses with existing solar systems. The discount amount is related to the usable capacity of the battery in kilowatt-hours (kWh), meaning larger batteries will receive larger discounts.
