Measuring the impact of change gains recognition for PPG

PPG’s efforts to measure the progress of its sustainability drive has been recognised again on a leading index for major companies.

Among the achievements PPG has listed include dedicating almost half of its waste to reuse and recycling,  along with cutting water use by a quarter in it s global operations.

More than 40 per cent of its products are also beneficial in cutting energy and material requirements.

It is also more than a third of the way along toward its 2030 targets of reducing greenhouse emissions in the company by 50 per cent.

These achievements have ensured it is recognised on a range of leading corporate evaluations of major companies.

“At PPG, we prioritise sustainability as a competitive advantage in our products and processes based on customer demand,” PPG vice president, global sustainability said Peter Votruba-Drzal says.

“We are focused on enabling operational excellence and reducing environmental impact both in our own operations and for our customers through sustainably advantaged innovations.”

Among the listings, PPG has been included in the FTSE4Good Index Series for the seventh year in a row.

Created by global index and data provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong sustainability practices against globally recognised standards.

FTSE Russell evaluations are based on performance in areas such as corporate governance, health and safety, anti-corruption and environmental impact.

PPG has also been recognised for its sustainability efforts with an EcoVadis Silver rating and an AAA rating from MSCI.

PPG is also listed on Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable Companies, the Corporate Knights Clean 200, Newsweek Magazine’s America’s Most Responsible Companies, Newsweek Magazine’s World’s Greenest Companies and others.
