Leading trainer’s chief joins key skills advocacy body

The collision industry’s leading skills taskforce has boosted its training industry credentials with a new appointment to the board.

As part of its Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday, the Australian Collision Industry Alliance  welcomed the CEO of leading industry trainer I-CAR Australia, Jason Trewin as a new board member.

Trewin has over 35 years’ experience in the automotive industry— beginning as a panel technician and comes to the board as a seasoned leader including the continuing success of I-CAR Australia as an organisation dedicated to keeping workshops up to date in the latest techniques and skills.

The ACIA is a not-For-Profit Industry Alliance with a single focus on prompting careers and changing the perception of the collision repair Industry.

ACIA Board Member Rob Bartlett says Trewin will bring invaluable experience and a fresh perspective as it helps to shape its mission to support the collision industry.

“I’m excited to join ACIA,” Trewin responded. “My lifelong passion for cars and commitment to innovation drive me to help shape a dynamic future for our industry.”

Highlights of the year

During the meeting, the ACIA also highlighted key achievements over the year in reshaping the skills discussion for the industry.

It highlighted its role in showcasing success stories, including the introduction of six new apprentices to the industry through initiatives in 2024.

The AGM was also presented its audited financial report for the fiscal year ending 2024, demonstrating increased revenues from memberships and provisions to support future initiatives.

“The insights shared in our presentation highlight the momentum we have built and our commitment to steering ACIA towards an even brighter future, “ Bartlett says.

“With strategic enhancements and innovative initiatives on the horizon, we are well-positioned to lead in our mission.”

Future Strategies:

It also discussed initiatives focused on building career events and enhancing our presence in the collision industry including increasing our visibility through social channels, particularly on TikTok, and organising member events and resources.

The ACIA also plans to enhance its website as the primary platform for communication and marketing strategies.

It will also aim to foster partnerships, collaboration, and fundraising efforts to ensure sustainability of the organisation into the future, utilising digital transformation, expanded collaborative partnerships, and sustainable development initiatives  for its long-term success.
