Glasurit makes a splash at Automechanika 2018

NCR Glasurit

From September 11 until September 15, Glasurit exhibited at Automechanika, the world’s leading trade fair for the automotive industry for equipment, parts, accessories, management and services in Frankfurt, Germany. The special stand of BASF’s premium refinish brand and the German Federation for Motor Trades and Repairs was located in the vast new hall dedicated to classic car business covering an area the size of around five football fields. Among the guests were body shop and classic car owners, who stopped by the stand to learn more about Glasurit.

The stand featured a Porsche 356 B Roadster whose new paintwork was artificially aged in a newly developed process. Glasurit’s new method provides an exclusive solution for classic car owners looking for a professional partner for this type of adaptation work. The Porsche symbolised the message conveyed by the presentation, entitled “Innovation meets experience”. To highlight the innovation theme, Glasurit presented the new RATIO Scan 12/6 spectrophotometer, whose digital technology allows colours to be matched even more accurately. The brand’s experience is also reflected in the Classic Car Colours network, where Glasurit lists body shops with experience and expertise in repairing and restoring classic cars.  Classic cars refinished by Glasurit network partners were displayed at various locations at Automechanika and attested to the fruitful cooperation, which raised the brand’s visibility.

Jürgen Book, responsible for the Classic Cars business at Glasurit, was pleased with the outcome of the five trade fair days, commenting, “We had a number of interesting discussions where we could share our expertise in paint, and not just with respect to classic cars. All in all, our exhibit demonstrated that our unique colour competence makes us number 1 in the classic car color sector.”

In addition to the stand for Classic Car Colors, BASF’s Automotive Refinish employees offered courses on refinishing and finishing at a Glasurit training stand.

Automechanika takes place every two years, alternating with the International Motor Show (IAA). This year marked Automechanika’s 25th anniversary. Over 5,000 exhibitors presented their products on a total area measuring over 315,000 square meters. The record for the number of visitors was broken, with over 130,000 people attending the trade fair.
