One thing that is sure to cause frustration for any workshop owner is the down-time caused by a bottle neck of vehicles waiting for painting.
Now leading coatings giant Axalta has launched a course specifically aimed at unclogging the blocks and getting g the best out of the workshop paint process.
Axalta Drivus is running the one-day course called Paintshop Optimisation with a program designed to identify opportunities where productivity and efficiency can be improved, through increasing capacity and optimising the use of paint and materials.
Key areas will cover paint mixing and preparation to reduce paint-related rework and waste as well as best practice for staging a vehicle including masking and cleaning.
It will also delve into the paint process, targeting error proofing to reduce common time delays and creating a demand-driven material replenishment system.
Participants will learn how to evaluate their current processes, pinpoint inefficiencies, and implement improvements that lead to increased productivity.
Standardisation through the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will be emphasised to maintain consistency and efficiency across the paintshop.
Drivus Business Manager Robin Taylor has worked closely with industry professionals for over 30 years and understands the challenges faced by bodyshops.
“The common indicator that there are issues within the process is the number of cars being painted. In the course, we discuss how a smooth workflow will ensure greater completion of vehicles, and optimise the ability to generate revenue and profit”.
The Paintshop Optimisation course will be held across five states in Australia during May and June, offering hands-on learning and expert guidance.
Axalta’s Training Alliance with I-CAR means participants will earn I-CAR credit points upon course completion where the points contribute to I-CAR Gold Class Professionals and Platinum Individual designations while also meeting annual training requirements.
