With a rebuilt 389 under the bonnet, 4-speed manual and new twin exhaust, it looks good, sounds good and its intimidating. The slightly nose-down stance is a righteous rake. And just check out the tri-power carburettor set up! Note that it also comes with the original air cleaner for the triple carbs that was usually thrown away in favour of a day-two chrome set up. This thing alone is huge and worth serious coin. You'll also notice the valuable super duty hood scoop that was installed by the previous owner. I tracked down the chrome grill piece but haven't installed it as yet, as theres no actual hole in the bonnet to suck in the air.
I'm not a fan of the 1961 or 63 Catalina in my view Pontiac got the 62 year just right. After a long search I imported Betty from Texas just before COVID hit and now I have to reluctantly let this black beauty go. You can't beat the low, slow undertaker vibes, especially if you're a hipster with sailor tatts on your arms and a greasy beard. You'll definitely need Ray Bans so you can avoid eye contact!
As mentioned the 389 was fully rebuilt to original specs a few years ago and it has done minimal miles since. The front end was all redone along with $2000 on new brakes, headlights and a bunch of other odds and ends a few weeks ago. As you can see in the video, the paint is a little tired and emotional in places, which could all be easily repainted, but the next owner can decide if they love the natural patina as much as I do. I like faded. That's how I roll. Other than that, the original interior is toasty with a few rips on the passenger side. Repair or replace its up to you!
Here's your chance to own a rare and desirable hardtop Poncho. Customise, refurb or just drive the wheels off it the choice is yours but you definitely won't see another like it at any car show so get in quick before I come to my senses!
