1996 Holden VS Commodore Series II Ute Fully Engineered Turbo LS1 Street Build

Built to be driven, not just admired.

Purchased in 2021 as a factory V6 Commodore ute, this vehicle underwent a comprehensive professionally engineered build in South Australia before returning to the road in 2023 as a fully engineered and road-registered turbocharged LS1 street car.

Unlike many high-powered builds, this ute was never intended to chase dyno records. The focus from the beginning was reliability, drivability and genuine street usability while still delivering exceptional performance.

Producing a verified 395kW and 800Nm at the rear wheels, the combination includes an Aeroflow BOOSTED 7675 turbocharger operating at a conservative 10psi through a Turbosmart recirculated wastegate, FAST Big Mouth 102mm throttle body, Higgins cylinder heads, Crow camshaft and factory GM ECU.

The driveline features a professionally built 4L60E automatic transmission by The Garage, Regency Road, coupled to a billet-backed 3200rpm high-stall converter, 3.25:1 differential and 31-spline axles.

Reliability was always prioritised with extensive thermal management including a PWR aluminium radiator, transmission cooler, fuel cooler, Aeroflow turbo blanket and exhaust heat shielding.

The ute retains its practicality with air conditioning, power steering, central locking, power mirrors, Apple CarPlay and a leather-wrapped HSV-style steering wheel. It has remained a genuine street-driven vehicle, comfortably undertaking normal road use including towing a lightweight go-kart trailer and everyday hardware-store duties.

The vehicle rides on Street Pro Convo Pro wheels with Hoosier Pro Street rear tyres and Bridgestone Potenza fronts. Included with the sale are additional Interceptor wheels, spare Street Pro rear wheels and a set of steel burnout wheels.

Paint presents honestly as good to fair for its age with minor age-related imperfections. Mechanically the vehicle has been maintained as a reliable, engineered street car rather than a show vehicle.
