RESTORED, HEALEY BLUE, STUNNING
Introduced in August 1955, and built for 12 months, only 3,924 BN2's were made, representing just 26.85% of Austin Healey 100 production. The BN2 was upgraded with Austin's new 4 speed gearbox, more efficient drum brakes and benefited from the production upgrades made throughout the BN1's production, including, but not limited to the Hypoid differential with 5 stud rear axles, that was strong enough to be retained for the entire remaining Austin Healey line up.
Built on the 24th of May 1956 and dispatched to Los Angeles USA, this BN2 was in the final couple of batches built. It was completely stripped, undergoing a full Healey Factory restoration between 2008 & 2009, with a new Kilmartin chassis featuring a 100M bonnet and leather strap, finished in the markets favourite colour scheme of Healey Blue with Ink Blue leather trim, complimented by 72 spoke chrome wire wheels, Lucas Flamethrower driving lights mounted on a badgebar and brilliant brightwork.
Mechanical improvements from the rebuild included the fitment of disc brakes all round with brake booster, Koni shockers, a 100M inlet manifold and airbox, an extractor exhaust with side exit, twin 1¾ SU carburettors, balanced and lightened flywheel, Scorcher electronic ignition, Texas Kooler fan, Hi-Torque starter motor, electronic ignition, spin-on oil filter conversion, alternator, alloy cylinder head and long range alloy fuel tank with an external Aston fuel filler.
The cabin is fitted with a Derrington Moto-Lita steering wheel, lap-sash seatbelts and an under dash Pioneer CD Tuner with Focal speakers whilst full weather equipment consists of a Mercedes cloth blue hood and tonneau cover with side curtains.
With its classic style, purity of design and small production numbers the BN2 is one of the most desirable Austin Healeys built. Finished to an extremely high standard and travelled only ~2,000 miles since restoration, this 100 is deserving of a new custodian ready to enjoy it.
