Clean sweep for Isabella

NCR Bella

In an unprecedented result at the TAFE NSW Excellence Awards 2022 recently held at CommBank Stadium in Parramatta, Isabella Turrise scooped the pool by winning in three categories, fending off several advanced diploma students and degree students to secure the top award. In total, Isabella won:

  • Supply Chain and eCommerce Student of the Year
  • Apprentice of the Year
  • Student of the Year

We first met Isabella as Future Leader of the Industry in early 2021, following which she went on to win the gold medal at the WorldSkills Nationals in the Car Painting category, securing a place as a Skillaroo, heading for the WorldSkills Internationals in Shanghai, subject to pandemic restrictions, of course.

You may recall that Isabella (Bella) was born in Canberra and grew up in Queanbeyan and developed her interest in cars whilst still at school. She had completed a VET automotive course, then went on to Campbelltown TAFE to do a Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing. Bella was identified as an up-and-coming talent in 2018, winning an AAPR scholarship award, and it only took a little bit of encouragement from Carl Tinsley at Campbelltown TAFE, and she was fully motivated to enter the WorldSkills competition.

Bella is now a key member of AMA Group’s ARM Mt Druitt team and AMA Group NSW Manager Trevor Lawler was thrilled to be at the award ceremony. Bella is currently honing her skills under the guidance of the technical team at BASF’s Refinish Competence Centre.
