Big week for repair recruitment in Sydney and Melbourne

An ACIA report has shown the severity of the skills gap in the repair industry, showing more than half of advertised jobs remain unfilled.

It will be a big week in Sydney for collision repair and future careers as its lead advocacy body marshals resources for the first of three capital city expos.

The Australian Collision Industry Alliance will be part of West Careers & Employment Expo, to be held at the Sydney Showgrounds, from 14 to 15 March 2025.

In line with its strategies outlined last month, it will continue to have a presence at the career expos in an effort to show new perspectives to young people on collision repair and the prospect  of a rewarding careers.

It will also attend Victoria Careers and Employment Expo at the Melbourne Showgrounds next week from 20 to 22 March.

The ACIA will also be at the Trade & Tech Fit Careers Expo in Melbourne to promote opportunities in the Collision Repair Industry for female and gender diverse students on 03 June to 04 June at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The ACIA also has a Careers Expo stand planned for Perth Careers Expo on July 24-26.

The ACIA also plans to launch Collision Automotive Hubs, a new strategy aimed at transforming how the body repair industry is showcased at careers events.

“These hubs will be unique, interactive spaces that highlight the full spectrum of career pathways in collision repair, pulling together repairers, manufacturers and suppliers into a single, cohesive footprint,” the ACIA said in a statement.

Last month at its AGM, the ACIA discussed other initiatives focused on building career events and enhancing our presence in the collision industry including increasing our visibility through social channels, particularly on TikTok, and organising member events and resources.

The ACIA also plans to enhance its website as the primary platform for communication and marketing strategies.

It will also aim to foster partnerships, collaboration, and fundraising efforts to ensure sustainability of the organisation into the future, utilising digital transformation, expanded collaborative partnerships, and sustainable development initiatives  for its long-term success.
