Be a colour matching champion with PPG!

NCR PPG Colour-matching

The region’s longest running colour matching competition is set to kick off for 2018 as it asks automotive spray painting apprentices the big question, ‘do you have what it takes to be the champion?’

Well into its third decade, the annual PPG Colour Matching Competition gives apprentices across Australia and New Zealand the opportunity to hone their colour theory and colour matching practical skills by competing in regional and state competitions, typically held between June and September. It’s not just about testing skills under the competition spotlight – the winners get the chance to represent their state in this year’s ANZ final in Brisbane. Along with the chance to be crowned PPG Colour Matching Champion, there are also cool prizes to be won, such as gift vouchers, SATA spray equipment and MIRKA tools. Will your name be on the trophy this year? Spots are limited so make sure you get your entry in early. The PPG team looks forward to seeing you at the 2018 PPG Colour Matching Competition!

Who is eligible to enter?

Any apprentice currently attending a TAFE college or other students completing an equivalent automotive spray painting apprenticeship course are strongly encouraged to ‘have a go’.

Competition format

Each contestant is provided with all the equipment and tinters they need and is given a set time to match two colours – usually, one solid and one metallic / pearl. As well as colour matching skills, contestants are judged on safety, cleanliness and work practices.

The PPG Colour Matching Competition is a fun way to get valuable colour matching experience, along with bragging rights on your mates!
