AMI RepairHub grows with latest acquisition

In yet another sign of the changes taking place to independent repair shops, IAG NZ has continued with its growth plans including adding another shop to its AMI RepairHub with an outlet in Queenstown.

The AMI RepairHub opened last week in the tourist hotspot on the south island of NZ, following its acquisition and rebranding of Queenstown Collision Centre and making the tenth outlet across the country.

The news follows the announcement last week of major Australian repair group CarCraft expanding into New Zealand

The Australia network with more than 110 outlets, welcomed foundation member, Rob Braun with his Main Autocentre in Auckland as the first of the CarCraft members across the Tasman.

Repairhub in Australia is another leading network of repair workshops founded in 2019 in conjunction with IAG and the RACV and currently has 21 locations.

Meanwhile in NZ, AMI RepairHub was pleased to announce its first site in central Otago after establishing sites in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch.

Faster turnaround

IAG New Zealand Executive General Manager Supply Chain and Hub Services, Dean MacGregor says the outlet will cut wait times for customers.

“This is a crucial time to offer a collision repair service for our customers in the Queenstown and Wanaka area, who have been experiencing up to five weeks of waiting time for vehicle repairs. Our move to this region will significantly reduce time between vehicle drop-off and pick-up,”

“We acquired Queenstown Collision Centre with a focus on using the local expertise of its team and to streamline the vehicle repair process for our customers,” MacGregor says

AMI RepairHub CEO, Gary Geeves wished the former owners best wishes for their retirement.

“We have been working closely with the former owners, who have done a great job building their business since opening in 2000,” Geeves says.

AMI RepairHub Queenstown now aims to have an average repair time of 4.5 days serving a wide range of insurers under the IAG NZ banner including AMI, State, NZI, Lumley, Lantern, NAC, Swann, ASB, BNZ, Westpac and Co-Operative Bank customers.

IAG New Zealand is part of Insurance Australia Group.
