Australia’s largest repair group is bouncing back with a new acquisition on the Gold Coast that it says will be part of its expansion plans.
The AMA Group announced the acquisition of a Hondat Smash Repairs in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.
In a statement the AMA says the acquisition was the first for the group in some time and “signals the beginning of an exciting growth phase, reinforcing our commitment to expanding our network and enhancing service excellence.”
This acquisition strengthens AMA Group’s leadership position in the Gold Coast market, further enhancing capacity, capability, and accessibility for customers in the region, it said.
New year, new growth
The latest acquisition follows a subdued period for the group as it underwent leadership changes in 2024 and released financial results which highlighted plans to consolidate its financial position.
However as a sign of new directions, last month he AMA Group entered into a strategic service agreement with Gemilang International Limited, a bus and bus body manufacturer based in Malaysia.
The group has also been investing in its specialised repair centres such as the flagship, customer-focussed centre in Arundel in 2023 and since then continuing expansion of both its Specialist Business units TechRight and TrackRight, along with new centres for Wales Heavy Vehicle repairs.
Stronger position
AMA Collision Executive General Manager. Stuart Faid says the transition of Hondat into the AMA Collision network will ensure that local customers benefit from industry-leading repair standards, advanced technology, and improved service efficiency.
“We are excited to welcome this site and its team to AMA Collision,” Faid says. “This acquisition is a key milestone in our strategic expansion plans, and we look forward to further strengthening our presence on the Gold Coast and beyond.”
The family run business, acquired by the current owners in 2012 , has a local history reaching back into the 1980’s. The site will now be rebranded as AMA Collision Burleigh North.
This transition will align the facility with national network standards, ensuring a seamless customer experience, enhanced quality assurance processes, and faster repair turnaround times.
“Rebranding the site under the AMA Collision brand is an important step in aligning with our broader network strategy,” Faid says. “It allows us to deliver a more streamlined and consistent experience for customers, backed by rigorous quality controls and efficient repair workflows. Our goal is to return vehicles to our customers faster, and to the highest possible standard.”
This acquisition is the first of many strategic initiatives as AMA Group continues to expand and invest in delivering best-in-class collision repair services across Australia and New Zealand, it said.
